DARC SIDE is a student-led robotics team at Durham Academy, in Durham, North Carolina.

Our mission is to foster growth in lifelong technical and interpersonal skills through participation in the FIRST robotics competition and STEAM community engagement.

We strive to create an inclusive, engaging culture that meets every student where they are, providing the resources necessary to succeed both on the team and beyond.

Founded in 2016 in a science classroom, DARC SIDE has evolved from a group of twelve into a thriving team of over fifty students.

We believe every member, from aspiring mechanical engineers to those passionate about media and education, brings unique value to the lab.

By practicing with a “work hard, play hard” mentality, we ensure that the fun we have translates into more than just robots; it builds real-world career skills and leaves a tangible impact on the community around us.
